In descriptions of SENI products we often use terms, meaning of which is not always obvious. Here you’ll find definitions of the most important terms we use.
Absorbent core
Inside every SENI absorbent product there is an absorbent layer (absorbent core), made of pressed cellulose pulp (except for Seni Eco, absorbent core of which is made of paper).
Depending on the product, we deal with one or two layers of cellulose in the core. The absorbency of the cellulose layers is increased with a little amount of superabsorbent added (except for Seni Soft and Seni Eco, in which there is no superabsorbent).
Air-laid
Thermally bound absorbent material which consist in 100% of cellulose fibres, or mix of fibres and superabsorbent.
Allantoin
In medicine allantoin is used as a component of skin care products and powder used in treatment of hard to heal skin injuries. Allantoin is a constituent of those tissues in which rapid proliferation and cell division takes place. It is considered as a stimulator of cells' growth. It has anti-inflammatory, moisturising and soothing action. When used as a component of skin care products, it acts smoothing and softening to the skin, and helps to remove cracks and thickened areas. Allantoin is used mainly in preparations recommended for delicate, irritated skin.
Breathability
We say that a product is breathable when its outer layer is made of a special material called „breathable laminate”. Thanks to this material, the skin can breathe easily (the laminate is air-permeable but waterproof), so the risk of chafes, bedsores and other irritations is minimised. Products with the breathable laminate are much better for the skin than products with barrier film.
We mark the breathable products in two ways. On the packagings of the breathable products there is an AIR sign:
On our advertising and information materials there is another sign:
Both signs symbolise that the product in question is breathable.
What the breathability consist in? In the structure of the breathable laminate there are micro pores which are big enough to let air through, but small enough not to let liquid through. Thanks to that, constant free circulation inside the diaper is guaranteed – the skin can breathe.
Breathable laminate
Laminate – multilayered material combining properties of all its layers, chosen in a way that they are complementary to one another. Breathable laminate is a special material which replaced barrier film in SENI absorbent products. Thanks to special micropores, the laminate is air-permeable but waterproof. It has an influence on a quality of a product – skin can breathe easily, which decreases the risk of chafes, bedsores and other skin irritations.
The breathable laminate is as good barrier to liquids as the barrier film, and its presence in a product has no influence on absorbency of the product or on the time of absorbing.
The laminate has been used in baby diapers for years. All branded baby diapers (also Happy diapers) have the outer layer made of the breathable laminate, and the opinions of their satisfied users are the best proof of their premium quality.
Combi-tape
All SENI all-in-one diapers have a special fastening called combi-tape. Combi-tape combines properties of hook-and-loop fastening and normal adhesive tape.
Combi-tape has 2 layers of material – white and blue. It differs from a usual fastening with a way it can be fastened and unfastened. Both layers can be used to fasten the tape and they can be used multiple (5-7) times, as the outer layer of the diapers is made of a breathable laminate. Combi-tape guarantees not only safe fastening – it also ensures that while refastening the laminate would not tear, which was almost impossible with barrier film. Combining two systems of fastening is the optimal solution – you can separate the two layers and use them both, fastening them anywhere you like on the surface of the outer layer of the diaper.
D-panthenol (Pantothenic acid)
It is a natural precursor of vitamin B5, present in all living cells. In skin care products D-panthenol is used instead of vitamin B5 because the latter does not penetrate through the horny layer of epidermis.
A letter D before the name marks the biologically active version of panthenol (there is also inactive L-version). D-panthenol penetrates through the skin into its deep layers. It acts anti-inflammatory and moisturising, giving softness and elasticity to the skin. It soothes irritations, regenerates injured epidermis and prevents exfoliation of the skin. D-panthenol acts soothing also in reactions to allergic factors.
EDS_(Extra_Dry_System)
EDS - Extra Dry System is an extraordinary innovation in SENI products. From now on, thanks to an additional, special distributing non-woven layer inside an absorbent core of SENI products the diapers absorb much qiucker than ever before. The blue layer visible under the top non-woven enables
quicker and more precise wetness distribution inside the diaper, which improves the feeling of drynes and comfort of use.
Incontinence
Incontinence (Lat. incontinence – not keeping close to oneself)
Incontinence refers to an affliction concerning a large part of society and is often called bladder weakness. We speak about incontinence when urine is passed without one’s consciousness.
ISO 11948 – 1 (Rothwell’s method)
Standardised method of examining absorbency of incontinence products. The test is carried out in several degrees, according to established procedures, which enables reliable comparison of absorbency of different products.
Latex Free
On all SENI absorbent products there is a sign:
This sign means that the product don’t have any latex elements. Instead of latex, all SENI products have elements of elastic yarn, which minimises the risk of allergic reaction. There are many people allergic to latex. Thanks to Latex Free property these people can also use SENI absorbent products. The Latex Free products are friendly to prone to allergies and sensitive skin.
Linseed biocomplex (flax biocomplex)
Innovative, patented solution in the form of linseed oil and extract, it plays an important role in maintaining proper condition of the horny layer of epidermis. Linseed oil is rich in UFA (Unsaturated Fatty Acids), commonly known as vitamin F. Vitamin F is very important in cells’ metabolic processes, it is also an essential building and energetic material for the organism. Supplying it from the outside of the organism enables the skin to function properly, especially when the skin is dry, rough and old. Flax (linseed) biocomplex has a nourishing effect thanks to content of vitamin A, B, C, E and F, proteins, minerals and amino acids.
Odour Stop
All SENI absorbent products are marked with the sign:
Odour Stop is a special property of superabsorbent contained in absorbent cores of the products. It is commonly said that the superabsorbent “binds liquid and smell” inside the diaper. What does it mean?
Bacteria which cause urine to decompose are responsible for unpleasant smell inside the diaper. The superabsorbent has anti-bacterial action – it reduces bacteria’s growth and, by that, prevents giving off the unpleasant smell. This property of the superabsorbent we call Odour Stop.
SINODOR®
Effective, natural substance absorbing unpleasant smell of urine. It has no smell itself, but neutralises smells of other substances.
Standing cuffs
Standing cuffs are elements of SENI all-in-one diapers, anatomically shaped pads, elastic pull-ups and bladder control pads. The cuffs are of a special hydrophobic non-woven, which pushes away the dampness and don’t let it through, outside the diaper. After putting on the product with the standing cuffs, the cuffs adjust to the body and prevent leakages.
Sugar betaine
Entirely natural substance obtained from sugar molasses. It moisturises the skin perfectly and reduces irritation caused by surface-active factors. Its effectiveness has been proved clinically. Sugar betaine decreases surface tension and stabilises foam, which is why it is often used as a component of washing and conditioning foams.
Superabsorbent
Superabsorbent is one of the components of SENI absorbent products. It is added to absorbent cores inside the diapers. Superabsorbent is in the form of small crystals, it looks like sugar. The crystals of superabsorbent can absorb great volume of liquids in short time. It is often said that the superabsorbent binds or gels liquid. Thanks to this property of the superabsorbent, the diapers can absorb great volume of urine and users of the diapers feel dry after the urine is absorbed. The superabsorbent has also anti-bacterial action – it reduces bacteria’s growth, preventing giving off the unpleasant smell.
System of colours
Choosing a proper product is very important in incontinence. Not only the size of the product decides whether the protection will be good or not. Another crucial element is the absorbency of the product. On SENI offer for moderate and heavy incontinence there are several groups of products, and the products are available in different absorbing capacities. To make your choice easier, we created the system of colours. The levels of absorbency has been marked with colours: white, yellow, blue, purple and green. In the table below you’ll find all SENI products. In each column there are products with the same absorbing capacity. The amount of drops denotes the level of absorbency – white (two drops) is the lowest absorbency, green (six drops) is the highest absorbency.
On the outer layer of all the products which are in the system of colours there is a proper colour. In breathable products there are coloured stripes on the breathable laminate, in standard products their barrier film has the proper colour. Packagings of these products have the corresponding colours.
Vitamin E
The most important function of vitamin E is to protect the organism from free radicals action. The free radicals are extremely active molecules of oxygen which attack almost all elements of living tissues. Because of its anti-oxidant action, vitamin E protects the organism and helps to heal skin ailments. It speeds up wound healing, creating of new tissues after burns or other injuries and protects from UVB radiation. Used in skin care products, it helps in wound healing process.
Wetness indicator
Wetness indicator is a stripe imprinted at the outer layer of a diaper (barrier film or laminate) from the inside of the diaper. The stripe blurs in contact with urine from inside the diaper, informing about necessity of changing the diaper.
Informing about necessity of changing the diaper is not the only function of the indicator. In the indicator’s stripe there is some information coded. You can find there a full name of the product with its size, production date and production hour. So if on an anatomically shaped pad we find a line:
* SAN SENI UNI SAN SENI UNI * 08.02.15 05:32
it means that we have the San Seni pad in Uni size, produced on 15th of February 2008 at 05:32. Giving the date and hour of production is necessary to identify the shift on which the diaper was produced.
Zinc oxide
Mineral of natural origin, creates a protective layer on the skin and protects against chafes. Has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory action.
